In honor of Dr. Seuss birthday on March 2nd, 2012, I am dedicating this blog to him. He changed the world with his goofy rhythms and nonsense poems. I did a project on this poem last year on behalf of my English 1B- Critical thinking class. I think a lot of people can relate to this poem. We all are waiting for something. At the time that I did this project, I chose this poem because it best described what I was going through. I waiting for a phone call from my doctor to confirm or deny if I had stomach cancer. Now when I look back at it, I am joyful that while waiting for the life changing news, I put all my trust in God. I do not have stomach cancer, and I am so glad that I waited patiently.
Waiting may be a scary time for you, but just remember that there is a Loving Father who will hold your hand through it all.
"Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or a No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.
Everyone is just waiting."

I miss you, Dr. Seuss!
Happy Birthday!
May many kids all over the world learn how to read because of your inspiration.
I love this post. Dr. Seuss did leave remarkable footprints in the history of children's literature, and his legacy will continue to live on. I also love your heart. Through the hard times, remember that God is here and will always help you.
ReplyDeleteDr. Seuss is amazing; his poems seem so silly to young kids and yet they are full of so much meaning. I love the poem you posted. People do spend their lives waiting...waiting for something to be over, for an exciting experience to come along, for a new person to love them. I think we all need to stop going through life waiting for the next thing to happen. We should live in the here and now and enjoy what we have because you could spend your whole life waiting and never make it to that supposed "better" date in time. Life is so short in comparison to time, so we need to affect as many lives as possible by spreading love and doing good. :)
