Where Do You Look?

For this blog, I was inspired last night when I caught the last part of Disney's The Lion King. Take a look at this youtube clip.

There are three main points in this clip that I want to reveal and have you, my readers, understand.

1) The first one comes from Simba saying "I can't change the past". I use to think the same thing and in fact I still do. However; I have grown in understanding that even though I cannot change what I did in the past; I very well can change the future. If you are like me, you know how hard it is to overcome your past and make a difference in the future. No fear, God has given us forgiveness through His loving Son who died for our sins.

Romans 8:28
"We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him. He appointed them to be saved in keeping with his purpose"

This means that we can keep going forward into the Hope of a future because it is God who will make our ugly past into something so beautiful.

2) "you said you'd always be here for me, but your not." I wonder how many times I have uttered these words to God. Sometimes I feel alone and sometimes I have a hard time believing that He is here for me when my world is crashing down. It is pride that keeps us from God. It is selfish earthly desires that we get caught up in that makes us question if He is really there.

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and brave. Don't be afraid of them. Don't be terrified because of them. The Lord your God will go with you. He will never leave you. He'll never desert you."

God always keeps His promises and one of them comes from this verse. This has helped me get through a lot of trials and pain. Hopefully it will encourage you as well.

3) You are a daughter or son of the Most Highest King!- Never forget that He is your Father. When we start forgetting who and where we come from, we fall because we forget His promises that go with them.

Don't forget- You are His daughter! You are His son!

Matthew 19:14
"Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me. Don't keep them away. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them.""

Update: My Week!

Dear everyone who reads my blog,

So I am writing my post for this week a day early because tomorrow I will be out of town. I am going to visit Biola University. I am totally excited.

This week I started spring semester for school. As I walked onto campus, I could not help but to think that this may be one of my last semesters until I transfer. It is absolutely amazing at what God has been doing in my life. I have four classes this semester which is not uncommon but I decided to take two science classes. God is so faithful because He gives me the strength to continue in my education. He helps me with everything.

I have learned about God’s love for me this week. He has unfailing love for a wrenched sinner like me. He woos me in His arms even when I do not deserve it.

Also this week I have been trying to get over my allergies. They make me sad but I am very blessed that it is not a cold or the flu.
So this is what is going on in my life. Feel free to share what is going on in your life. I would love to hear from you.

Love you all,
Avonlea

The Rock!

Psalm 62:2

"He alone is my rock. He is the One who saves me.

He is like a fort to me. I will always be secure"

The Living Water is There!

Do you remember when you were a kid? You got easily excited about something that an adult would overlook. Today in the classroom that I was teaching, a few of the kids knew where the water was before even seeing it. It was absolutely incredible.

I asked one of the little boys’ to point to where the water fountain was and sure enough he knew exactly where it was. Do you remember when you first became a Christian and could believe without seeing? These little kids took me back to a time where I knew God was right next me even though I could not see Him. They made me realize how amazing water is. I am very thankful for the beautiful and clean water that I drink.

So do you remember when you first believed without sight? I sure do. I pray that each and every day we can continue to be like these children. The Living Water is coming!

John 4:10
“Jesus answered her, ‘You do not know what God's gift is. And you do not know who is asking you for a drink. If you did, you would have asked him. He would have given you living water.’”

2 Corinthians 5:7
“We live by believing, not by seeing.”
