The Best Gift: Patience!

When I was about ten years old, I went to Las Vegas with my family. Though we were there to remember my papa, we had a blast singing in the van the way until we reached our destination. I recall singing to songs like “Shine” by the Newsboys or “Jesus Freak” by DC Talk. As my love grew each year for these wonderful bands, I fell more and more in love with God. I was introduced into an astonishing band that helped change my life forever.

As the years past, my love cultivated more for God. I listened to almost every Newsboys songs that I could. It was almost my thirteen birthday, and I decided what I wanted that year. The choice was rather easy considering I was practically in love with them. I asked for concert tickets to see the Newsboys. I took the time to look up where they were going to be, when it was, and how much the tickets cost.

I did not get it. However, I got a new album from the Newsboys along with other gifts that my parents took the time to buy for me. I was thankful. As the years went on, I fell apart from the Newsboys until one day I turned on my radio, and the song “He Reigns” came on. I was so amazed and surprized to hear their sweet voices again.

About seven years later my birthday wish became true. I got concert tickets to see The Newsboys! On Saturday May 7th, 2011 my first love bloomed into a flower as I enjoyed the talented performers. When I was listening and having a fantastic time at the concert, I could not help to think about how God uses perfect timing. He used His perfect timing; I had to grow in my relationship with Christ to fully understand what a huge blessing this was.

I saw my cousins at the concert, and I told one of my cousins “they probably won’t play my favorite song, but I hope they do.” My favorite song, Breakfast, was played at the concert. And “He Reigns” was also played. This made my night.

To make the concert better, Michael Tait looked and pointed at me three times with a huge smile on his face. Not once, not twice, but three times! Can you believe this? It really happened.

(This is one of the times where Michael Tait points at me. I scream really loud. Hint: It may be a good idea to make the video full screen in order to see what is going on.)

I thought of how God chooses His children to go and serve Him. What an honor! We, God’s children, are chosen to go and share about the Good news. I often think God is point His finger telling me “You can do it, beloved. Go share about the Gospel.” As He smiles at me, pats me on the back, and holds my hand, I am able to talk about His love for the world.

Think about it this way, there are almost seven billion people in the world; God points to YOU to go and share the Good news.

Matthew 28:19-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Do not wait another moment; God is calling you to His Kingdom. Answer the call with obedience, and go share your love that God has given you.

Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
